Wapak Kids Hosts Girls Tournament
Wapak Kids Wrestling hosted an all girls K-6 tournament Friday night at the high school. Fifteen lady Redskin Wrestlers completed with another hundred from around the area at the 2nd annual event. Wapak Wrestlers who finished first included Scarlett Gren, Avery Erb, Mia Bailey, Hazel Prine, Millie Sells, Isabelle Carter, and Hope Erb.
Thank You to all the volunteers that make this tournament happen.
HS Finishes 10th at Maumee Bay
Senior Wyatt Buell finished as the 175lb Champion at Clay High School to lead the Redskins to a top 10 team finish. Buell went 6-0 on the weekend defeating Lebanon's Jackson Martin in the finals 4-1 to claim the title. Buell secured a takedown with one minute to go to clinch the win. Sophomore Keyno Mendez finished runner-up at 165lbs. Mendez carried a 6-2 lead into the third period before falling 8-7 to Springboro’s Khary McCall in the championship match.

MS Finishes Second at Shawnee
Asher Miller (104lbs) and Bennett Bishop (110lbs) paced the junior high matmen to a runner-up Team finish at the Shawnee Junior High Wrestling Championships. Miller went 4-0 on the day with a pair of pins, a decision, and a tech-fall. Bishop finished the day a perfect 4-0, all by way of pin.

Bowers Wins Title at Patrick Henry; Team Finishes 7th
Brielle Bowers (115lbs) led the Wapak lady Wrestlers to a 7th place Team finished at Patrick Henry on Saturday. The Freshman went 3-0 on the day with a pair of pins and a 4-3 decision in the Championship match. Other Placers included Kelsey Greve (2nd at 100lbs) and Abby Furr (4th at 130lbs). Eighth grader Zoey Vaughn went 4-1 with four pins on the day as the middle school Wrestler competing for the ladies.

Jackson Places 3rd at Tulsa Nationals
Wapak native JJ Jackson placed Third at the 71st annual Tulsa Nationals in Tulsa Oklahoma. Jackson went 6-1 over the course of the three day tournament against some of the top competition from the entire country. He defeated Camden Danielson of Texas Elite Wrestling 7-0 for bronze. Jackson competes for CP Wrestling Academy.
Wapak Kids Qualify for OAC Grade School State
Several Wapak Kids Wrestlers set out this weekend to punch their tickets to the Ohio Athletic Committee Grade School State Tournament held in Youngstown. Lakota West and Marysville were host to Distrct Qualifiers. At Marysville Oliver Sutter place third and qualified for the March 28th tournament. Mylan Webb placed 5th to be a State alternate, while Eli Erb failed to qualify.
At Lakota West, Drexler Dobie and Wyatt Follin each place sixth to be State alternates. Others competing included Jaxson Follin, Tytus Follin, Zane Allison, and Millie Sells.

Redskins Roll the Roughriders
The Varsity Wrestling Team defeated St. Marys 58-8 in dominating fashion. The win moves the Redskins to 5-0 in the Western Buckeye League. St. Marys falls to 1-4. The St. Marys woman's Wrestlers swept all five of the contested matches against the Lady Redskins. The Middle School had little trouble with the Roughriders as they remained perfect in WBL duals with a 70-6 victory. The Varsity travels to the Maumee Bay Classic Friday and Saturday. The HS and MS ladies travel to Patrick Henry Saturday, while the Middle School boys travel to Shawnee for the Jr. High Championships tournament.

Wapak Kids Win Home Duals Tournament
Wapak Kids Wrestling hosted an 8-Team dual meet tournament Sunday at the high school. The host Redskins went 4-0 on the day to finish as Team Champions. The Redskins defeated Frankenstein, Northmont B, and Versailles A before defeating Allen East in the championship match. Frankenstein was a team made up of Wrestlers from all schools when Franklin decided to not show for the tournament. Wapak B went 1-3 and finished in 7th place.
Wyatt Follin, Eli Erb, Bronson Neu, Baylor Bishop, Tytus Follin, JJ Jackson, Hope Erb, and Isabelle Carter all turned in unblemished 4-0 records on the day.

MS Wrestlers Win Championship at Wapak Invitational
Led by four individual Champions, the junior high Wrestlers claimed the Team Championship at their home Invitational. Hunter Stidham (98lbs), Zach Williams (116lbs), Cruz Mendez (128lbs) and Andre Varno (172lbs) each claimed gold to lead the Redskins to the title. The Redskins placed 13 Wrestlers and scored points in all 15 weight classes they had entered.

Redskins Finish 7th at GMVWA Holiday Tournament; Versailles Takes 5th
The Redskin Wrestlers finished 7th at the 65-Team GMVWA Holiday Wrestling Tournament held at Vandalia Butler HS. The two-day tournament featured some of the top talent in Ohio as well as from Georgia, Kentucky and West Virginia. Versailles landed in 5th place, the highest Team finish of any local squads.
Top finishers for Wapak included Zane Russell Runner-up at 106lbs, Wyatt Buell 3rd at 175lbs, Keyno Mendez 5th at 165, and 8th place finishes by Urijah Cordray (120) and Gavin Ridenour (138). Versailles was led by Champion Trent Huber (106), 4th place finisher Ben Kaiser (285) and 8th place finisher Reece Magoteaux (120). Delphos St. John's Edward Kessen won the 150lb class and Dylan Kantner placed 8th at 165. Coldwater's Brady Hamilton finished 5th at 150lbs.

Junior Varsity and Lady Wrestlers Wrap-up Successful Weekend
The Wapakoneta Lady Wrestlers completed in the Tri-State Border Wars Battle at the Fort on Saturday. The HS Team was led by placers Abby Furr (125(b)lbs) 1st, Kelsey Greve (110lbs) 4th, Brielle Bowers (115lbs) 5th, and Carmin Wibley (155lbs) 5th. Junior High Placers included Kenize Jackson 3rd, Brooklynn Franks 4th, and Zoey Vaughn 5th.
The boys JV Team claimed the Team title at the Bryan Invitational. Crue Shaner, Zeke Doseck, and Everett Cernan all finished as Champion. Henry Martin, Trevor Varno, and Jayden Williams finished Runner-up. Joey Borroff and Isaiah Pyles each finished 3rd.

Middle School Wrestlers Finish 5th at Wauseon
Bennett Bishop (110lbs) and Andre Varno (172lbs) won individual championships at the 17-team Wauseon Invitational. Overall the Redskins finished in 5th place. Delta won the Team title. Other Wapak place-winners were Warren Rivera (205lbs) 2nd, Elijah Essex (122lbs) 4th, Hunter Stidham (98lbs) 5th, Zach Williams (116lbs) 5th, Dorian Varno (128lbs) 5th, Gabe Eyanson (142lbs) 5th, Levi Buell (150lbs) 5th, and Asher Miller (104lbs) 6th.
